Thompson fought against the Republican Pro-Life Plank

As per Terry Jeffrey:

However, when Fred Thompson was in the United States Senate, both times he ran for the Senate he ran as a pro-choice candidate. He was against the Republican pro-life plank in 1996, when I was out in San Diego fighting to keep it in the platform. And I think he has to explain much more persuasively than Mitt Romney did why it is that he is now a pro-life.

Flip-flopping Fred?

UPDATE: CBN’s David Brody has uncovered more evidence to support this story. Read it here. Excerpt from 1996:

Fred Thompson says he seldom hears about abortion in campaign travels throughout Tennessee and hopes the issue is downplayed at the Republican National Convention. The Tennessee Republican, a pro-choice defender in a party with an anti-abortion tilt, is preparing for next week’s convention in San Diego. He said the party must avoid distracting issues and focus on electing Bob Dole as president. ‘We need to concentrate on what brings us together and not what divides us,’

This is good to hear. I always understood him to be strictly anti-abortion. But to know that he is willing to consider the pro-rights (choice) side of things, it makes me even more supportive.

I am anti-abortion, but pro-choice. Run Fred Run!!

  2. Sturm Ruger Says:

What Terrence Jeffrey said seems consistent with Fred Thompson’s long-held federalist belief that abortion is a matter that should be decided by the states, not one in which the federal government should have involved itself. And this is consistent with his belief that Roe v. Wade was “bad law and bad science.”

On a personal level, he opposes abortion. Seeing a sonogram of his now three-year-old daughter is the event which made it hatter of the heart with him. It had already been a matter of intgellect with Fred, as his Senate voting record is 100% pro-life. His NARAL score is zero, and Planned Parenthood graded him with an “F”.

I’m an abortion opponent who can, in all good conscience, support Fred and vote for him.

You can’t be anti-abortion and Pro-choice. If you support somebody else chosing to have an abortion, you are pro-abortion.

Why can’t you people be honest?

Fred is too lazy to flip flop!

He might flip one year and flop the next but doing it all at once requires too much energy.

  5. Bill O'Rielly Says:

If you expect the Republican Party to change, because their candidate changes, you are not connected with reality. Thompson may be a nice person, and occasionally voted correctly, but he is still part of the NWO machinery, and the Club that gave us NAFTA, CAFTA,GATT, and most favored nation trading status for China. The Republicans were in power since 1994, and the current mess the US is in, is their doing. I for one, have a feeling of being betrayed.

How do you people sleep at night. Blatant lies do nothing for your weak candidate. Fred’s average 6 year voting record on pro-life issues is NOT 100%. It is a whopping 65.3%.

So sick of the propaganda that is being spewed about this pos.

DUNCAN HUNTER is the one with the 100% pro-life voting record.
